Işık İlber Sırmatel is an assistant professor of automatic control at the Control and Automation Engineering Department, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye. He received the B.Sc. degrees in mechanical and control engineering from Istanbul Technical University, the M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from EPFL, in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2020, respectively. Prior to joining Istanbul Technical University in 2026, he was an assistant professor at Trakya University, Türkiye. His research focuses on applications of automatic control and optimization, with an emphasis on model predictive control of intelligent transportation systems.
